Shedir

Hello there! Yes I’m still here! 🙂 Thank you for the wonderful comments on my Sesame cardigan. Sorry for the lack of posts lately, but yes there had been some knitting! Although, my knitting mojo did go missing for several days. Gasp! Tell you about it later…

I still haven’t decided what big project I’m going to do next, so in the mean time I’ve been working on some small projects. For example, I get to finish Shedir last week!

Shedir is done!

Pattern: Shedir from Knitty.
Yarn: Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran in ‘Empire’ from stash, a bit over 1 ball.
Needles: 4mm / US6 circulars and then DPNs.
Modifications: Several, to compensate for the thicker yarn. I casted on only 96 sts, knitted 7 rows of ribbing (instead of 9), only 6 pattern repeats per row (instead of 8), and only 3 repeats of the main cable pattern (instead of 5). I got this idea from Jo‘s Baby Shedir.

The thicker yarn makes it quite a quick knit. It’s also very warm! I’ve worn it a lot lately, just perfect for the freezing weather outside. Brrrrr…

I absolutely love the cable work in this pattern. Ingenious! I love how the stitches just ‘pop out’.
