So yeah, I decided to join in Project Spectrum, and while thinking about February/March theme colours, I realised that hey, those were my school colours! In fact, let me show you my high school jersey.
In Australia, in the final year of high school (Year 12), it’s tradition for the graduating students to produce a jersey, typically in the school colours, as a memento of their high school years. Typically they show the year of graduation at the back, and when you’re just graduating, it’s cool to wear these everywhere you go. It’s like, look! we’re graduating!! Of course, when one had graduated from high school more than a decade ago, it’s not so cool anymore.
Anyway, I have casted on for my new projects. My brother in law asked for a scarf. A white scarf, of all colours. And he picked the Here and There Cables scarf from the Scarf Style book. I’m using Filatura Di Crosa Zara yarn. It’s soft and nice to work with, and you can just put the item in the washing machine and it will come out even softer.
And these lovely skeins of Malabrigo will become a swing coat for Annette.

That’s an interesting tradition! The scarf looks great!
We had a wincheater, not a jersey, and 18 years on, I’m still cranky about it!(I sooo wanted a jersey, but I still have it and it’s safely tucked away!) Our jumper had my HSC class names printed on the back, luckily there was only 22 of us! I made sure I got a jersey from my uni days though!!!

My school gave us t-shirts with our graduation year printed on the front when we entered YEAR 9! (Guess they were really banking on everyone graduating on time!)
I have been meaning to make a here and there cables scarf for a long while and have yarn set aside for it. Your scarf beginnings are already inspiring me to get going with one for myself!
Loving the scarf, and that wool would have to be one of my favourites. I love the blue yarn too, just gorgeous. I cannot wait to see what it looks like knitted up too.
i think the high school culture here in Aussie is pretty cool. we never get those sort of things back in our high school days in Msia. pretty boring.

Oh my gosh, your scarf is gorgeous! I just love cables. And I don’t knit but that Malabrigo yarn must be something special as I keep reading about it on other blogs.
That scarf is absolutely beautiful! I have wondered what that yarn looks like knitted up. At my school we got a tshirt. I think I still have it somewhere. We too wore them everywhere! This was 1990 – the shirt was huge as was the perm!
