Knitting has been slow going here. Here and there cables scarf is growing a little longer, and the swing coat is growing a little more, but they still look the same. I’m dying to start a sock with the STR, or maybe something from the Victorian Lace Today, but I keep thinking that I should make more progress on the current WIPs first. I don’t know how long this will last, though. So in the mean time, how about I distract you with some pretty pictures instead?
Got these on a recent trip to Spotlight. The yarn is called ‘Dashing’, which makes me chuckle. They must be new, as I had never seen them before. For a cheapo yarn it’s surprisingly soft, although the colour range is not that great. This one is pastel green. It also comes in pastel blue, pastel pink, and peach.
I’m also in the middle of making this baby hat for a friend who just had a baby boy. I’m going to see her next week, so this one is taking priority. I’m not using any pattern, just making it up as I go. I actually started with a pattern, and got up to the crown decreases, before I had to admit that it would be far too big for a newborn baby. I really do have a bad denial problem. So off to the frog pond it went. Anyway, this one looks ok for size now. I’m using Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino for this one. Mmm… Cashmerino…
There have been some sewing as well. Here’s a peek on what I’m working on 🙂

Love your pretty pictures. :o) Yes, I’m easily distracted. The baby hat should be lovely. I’m working on current WIPs at the moment too and so there’s not much to report – nothing new and exciting – so I know what you mean.
Ah you will have to tell me how the yarn knits up. It is a new one out which my store only got in about 2 weeks ago now, and I was eyeing off the same color as I want to use it for Isabelle’s jacket, which is the pattern on the front of Junior Knits. The colors are all pastels though so maybe I shall wait and see. I love the baby hat, very cute and the pattern is nice too. I love the bag (I assume that is what you have been sewing), very nice.

wow…those pictures are really pretty. do you use just a basic digital camera or are you using the DSLR type? that spotlight yarns looks pretty good. might give them a visit this week 🙂

Michelle, I usually use my old Canon G3 to take my pictures, but lately I’ve been trying out hubby’s digital SLR (he’s really into photography), a Canon 300D. It’s quite old too, but I really like the photos it’s been turning out (including the photos in this post).
Bernie, I’m not really sure about the maker of that yarn. In the shop, the label on the shelf says it’s by Moda Vera, but the ball band label itself doesn’t have the usual Moda Vera logo. Instead it just has the words “Basics” and “Dashing”. According to the label the yarn was made for Spotlight.
love the bag and I’m knitting the same yarn, I was amazed at how cheap it was too!!!!! and pure wool which was a total suprise to me! I’m doing the pink but tossed up the green shade!
