Time seems to keep slipping away from me. Days have gone past and I haven’t done anything productive. I haven’t touched my sewing machine for ages, even though my head is buzzing with ideas for things that I want to make. And not much knitting either. Hmm, not very inspiring, is it. But I did get to finish something! Little Majolica, remember her? I’ve finally finished the knitting and the seaming up, and now she’s blocking. Just in time for the Australian summer! Sigh. Such is the fate of my knits. Just you watch out for the summer clothes that I’m planning to make for Annette, they’ll be ready around winter I suppose! 🙂 Anyway, Little Majolica photos later!
This lovely yarn arrived here last week, from Katie of Live 2 Knit.

Back in September I won the Southern Summer of Socks KAL’s banner/button contest, and Katie generously offered two skeins of her sock yarns in the colourway of my choice as the prize. I picked the Elizabeth 100% merino sock yarn in ‘First light’. And last week they arrived. Thank you Katie!! I love them!
I’m thinking of making the Firestarter socks from Yarnissima out of these. I have heard that this sock pattern can be a little challenging, but I do love how it’s predominantly plain stockinette (great for showing off the variegated colours) and yet with interesting cables and gusset construction. I love a good challenge, lets just hope it doesn’t backfire on me 🙂
Oh, and I have a new toy!

No more winding yarn by hand for me… Got this via eBay, but still brand new! Love, love the efficiency of it. I’ve used it already to wind the Live 2 Knit yarn, so I’m ready to go. This ball winder is a (very early) Christmas present from my brother in law (the one I made this scarf for). Thanks R!
