How do you tell if you’re obsessed with knitting? When you don’t even wear hats but you knit one anyway because “the construction looks interesting”.
This is Verity, another WIP that has since become an FO.
Pattern: Verity by Ysolda. I made the 56cm version.
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran colour #010, 2 balls.
Needles: 4.5mm circulars, with magic looping to start off at the top. (I just love magic loop, you can do all sorts of circumference with just one pair of needles!)
I’m a big fan of Ysolda’s patterns, she does make beautiful designs that are fun and interesting to knit. (I have my eyes on this one next 🙂 )
The band of this hat here looks like moss stitch (seed stitch), but in fact it’s the reverse side of linen stitch. Doing it this way has the effect of having the smooth texture on the inside, and also makes a denser fabric that doesn’t overstretch easily. Very clever!
I like it! It’s not as slouchy as in the pattern (my gauge was a bit tighter), but I didn’t want it too slouchy anyway. Very happy with this! I think I might become a hat person after all… I’ve worn it outside a few times already and I love it! It’s great for keeping my hair together on windy days 🙂

it looks fantastic! i’ve been wanting to make verity for a while, i might go and cast on now, you’ve given me a huge motivational burst!!!
What a cute hat, Claudine! And hats are great for those days when your hair just doesn’t want to do what you want it to.
I love it! Berets are wonderful!
It looks great – love the colour and the button
Great hat! See you are a finisher!!!
Look at you! I think slouchy hats are the best. And I’m with you on knitting hats just to try out the pattern (Koolhaas, that was my one, I dare say I’ll never wear it!). Oh, and (funnily enough), I’m with you on the other Ysolde pattern…we can have a Rose Red along!!
It is really pretty. The button really finishes it.
It’s cute! You should be a hat person.
Thanks for information and link about magic looping. Eager to give it a try. I always seem to learn something new or get some great inspirations when I visit your blog and links. Last time I got some great tips on taking better photos of my knitting. Thanks heaps.
Your hat looks great! That pattern is on my list to be ready for colder weather. After seeing yours, I am anxious to cast on!
The hat looks beautiful on you. I love the design too, will have to check it out.

Corrie:)
see, my head doesn’t tolerate hats – since I look like stupid wearing ones – but did it stop me from knitting them – nooooo!
Great knitting!
This hat looks gorgeous on you… You should definitly become a hat person..
Hehe -I did Millinery at TAFE for 2 years…and I don’t wear hats!!!
Yours looks great.
Claudine,
I loved this hat so much (in your projects), I had to knit one up IMMEDIATELY! Mine also wasn’t very slouchy, so of course I had to start another one. I was at a market today and about five people asked if they could buy it! Yours does look very nice.

You look great in the hat! I sometimes do that too – just knit a project for the experience of learning a new construction or a stitch pattern.
How could you not be a hat person now???I totally suits you girl! Great work!
Oh wow, it’s super cute.
Love that hat! You did a fabulous job knitting it and it looks great on you. Suits you well.
