A trip and a stole

The family and I got back from Melbourne last Monday. It was a good trip! We were there for hubby’s brother’s wedding, and it was a very nice wedding too. We rented a townhouse in the bayside suburb of Williamstown.

French Creperies

A French Creperies, where the wedding reception was held

Unfortunately not much knitting happened during the hols. I did bring along the lacey rib scarf with me, but in the end I was sucked in to a good book instead. That’s when we’re not attending the various get-togethers with the relatives or catching up with my new sister in law.

But I do have a new FO. I realise that I haven’t been talking about this one in the blog. No particular reason, probably just because it never quite looked very interesting. I’ve been knitting on a feather and fan stole in the background for the last month or so. I used KnitPick‘s free Andean Treasure Shawl pattern, except that I made it narrower. I used 3 balls of HomeMaker Clinker yarn from Kmart in ‘cream’. As with all things lace, the crumpled up mess turned into a beautiful drapey stole after blocking. It even complemented so well the outfit that I was wearing for the wedding.

Spring!

Spring has indeed sprung over here. Nice warm days this past few days.

We saw a family of swans with cute fluffy signets in Centennial Park

And made playdough snails…

And Annette got a new bag, which is my first attempt at something quilted. This one was taken last Friday as we headed to the Fox Studios playground to meet up with the lovely Belinda and her little girl.

More on the bag soon! And on the knitting front, I’m in the middle of seaming Buttercup, so it might become an FO soon too!

Red Friday

Another entry for the colour week. I missed black/grey wednesday and blue thursday, but here is red for friday.

Annette's Red Boots

Those are Annette’s red boots, sitting on my bed. What, doesn’t everybody take photos of boots on their bed?? 🙂

Knitting contents will resume next week. Have a great weekend everyone!

Brown

Still playing around with photos for colour week. Tuesday’s theme is brown. I’ve got…

… brown shoes. These are the shoes that I wear day to day. They’re very comfortable.

And how can I resist adding this one…

Goal Button

… in celebration of Australia’s 3-1 win in their first match of the FIFA World Cup, after trailing 0-1 for most of the game. Three goals in the last 10 minutes, how cool is that!! What a nail-biting match. Congratulations, Socceroos!

I got that vintage button from a bag of buttons that I bought at Big W. And no, I didn’t know it has that button inside when I bought it.

White Monday

Stephanie at little birds is starting another round of colour week. Today, Monday, is white. So I give you…

Off-white Zara

White Lace

It’s supposed to be one photograph only each day, but I just can’t resist adding that second one. The yarn is a ball of off-white Zara yarn, bought at an incredible 50% sale from The Wool Shack (thanks to Belinda who brought it to my attention!). I bought substantially more than just one ball, another cardigan’s worth in fact. The second photo is of a white lacy fabric that I bought from Big W. I think it’s so pretty.
